A dark and intensely roasty ale, with strong aromas of chocolate and coffee. The rich body is balanced with all New Zealand hops added late in the boil and a good layering of crystal malt leaves a hint of liquorice and an almost rum like quality to the finish.
Drink Responsibly.
Drink fresh or cellar for up to two years.
TASTING NOTES
-
Appearance - Jet black with a thick tan head that persists with every sip. Aroma - Rich chocolate fudge and roasted coffee on the nose, big earthy hop aromas mix into the fudge and create a very doughy, cake-like smell - like baked chocolate cake. No yeast character or esters, a clean roast. Taste - Loads of roast and bitter sweet chocolate on the tongue. A balanced bitterness with just the right mineral profile to the water. Ever so slightly salty. Perfect! Mouthfeel - Smooth carbonation, leaves the pallet dry and wanting more.

This is our take on a New Zealand style farmhouse ale. To build on the unique, fruity character of the Belgian yeast we've selected Canterbury malts for their honey like sweetness and Nelson hops for their tropical gusto. The result is a super floral and slightly spicy ale with huge aromas of pineapple and lemon zest. The hops give way to the yeast's rustic funk and a tart finish leaves the palate dry.
Drink Responsibly.
TASTING NOTES
-
Appearance - Golden sunshine in a glass with a lively effervescence that holds up a centimeter of foam before dropping back to a thin lace.
Aroma - The yeasts kicks off all sorts of fruity compounds, and mixed with New Zealand hops its all tropical aromas of pineapple, lemon zest and peaches.
Taste - A big tropical fruit bowl thanks to the Motueka and Kohatu hops. The yeast has a nice tartness that further evokes pineapple and citrus. The bitterness is low and the vienna and wheat malt soon shine through with a subtle rustic doughiness followed by a honey like sweetness from the pilsner malt.
Mouthfeel - Lively carbonation with a balance of sweetness, tartness and bitterness that cleans the palate nicely without being overly dry.

You won’t find a better gateway craft beer than the Belgian Blonde Ale. Most people are familiar with the likes of Leffe and Hoegaarden. In fact the style itself came about in Europe as a means of appealing to a much wider pilsner drinking audience, so in terms of Belgian beers its very approachable. Its still a Belgian strong ale, but its maltier and sweeter than a Tripel or Golden Strong Ale and with a much lower alcohol content. The ‘sweetness’ should be a pilsner malt character rather than a residual sugar sweetness, light to medium hop aroma or flavour and above everything else the beer should be dry, and drinkable. A classic and infinitely complex example of Belgian-style brewing.
TASTING NOTES
-
Appearance - Clear and vibrant, pale gold colour with lovely fluffy white head.
Aroma - Classic Belgian yeast esters and spicy phenols create hints of citrus peel and pepper. The New Zealand Pilsner malt has a faint honey suckle sweetness and fresh bread aroma while the hops add a touch of earthy, herbal character to the mix.
Taste - Smooth and crisp with classic Pilsner Malt character and a light to medium body. A gentle malt sweetness balances the perfumey honey-like alcohol
Mouthfeel - Spritzy carbonation has a mouth filling bubbly sensation, refreshing and complex.

A fusion of Belgian yeast and new world hops. Dry and refreshing, loaded with complexity and significance. A tropical medley of esters and hop oils in, like, cosmic harmony
Will we ever come down from this heady revelation of the senses?
This beer is a fusion of American IPA and Belgian Saison. I was looking for a higher alcohol Saison with a super dry finish and a fresh hoppy character typically found in an IPA. While mixing Simcoe, Citra and Motueka in the whirlpool and dry hop it transformed this beer into a balance of both styles where each element has its own space without being overbearing or out of balance. We used two different Saison strains to dry out the beer and give it a strong citrus character with a heady mix of yeast esters and phenols there’s no denying this is a Belgian beer but the hops pull it back into familiar territory as your senses are left wondering exactly where one element ends and the next begins.
A great and mighty trophy hoarder, who lived off hops and booze, met a cautious stout perfectionist in search of God-like brews.
They gathered every local beer and put it to the test, then fat with pride they could not deny and declared that theirs the best.
The trophy hoarder said it must be big, it must be bold. The cautious stout perfectionist said balance must unfold
and so they both agreed to do what’s true and what is right! To ride this strange torpedo on its weird and luscious flight
An intensely flavoured dark, roasty and bittersweet ale. Chocolate and roasted coffee leap out of the glass with rich dark fruit and ripe berry flavours following.
The 9% Alcohol gives the beer a warming character and a rich mouth filling sensation. There is a thick creamy brown head that floats atop the beer. Sticking around and lacing the glass with each sip.
Its all rather marvelous really.

This beer is about the coming together of styles, about two very different breweries each putting their own mark into something unique and delicious. We wanted a Belgian Witbier with pronounced citrus and stone fruit character. We wanted the spicy and citrus notes typical of this style to come from an interplay between the yeast and hops rather than coriander and orange peel. A balanced marriage where its hard to tell where one element begins and the other ends. Welcome to the world of hoppy Belgian Wit.
Made with our very good friends at Hallertau Biergartgen and Brewery in Riverhead, Auckland. With over 500kg of freshly blended pineapples and 10kg of fresh ginger in the batch this beer is a righteous celebration of summer. Soured over night then fermented with a Saison yeast, it is a highly sessionable and tropical drink that ticks all of our beer nerd boxes and its low alcohol means it can be consumed in quantity, cheers to summer!
